About the Croydon HF Rambling Club

Croydon HF Rambling Club has been going for many years having been formed in the 1930s. Since then many things have changed, but its basic aims are the same – to get people out into the surrounding countryside, to visit places of interest and to meet up with like-minded people. It is not just a Club for those who want to walk, but also caters for those who wish to visit some of the many interesting places there are in and around the area, including London and further afield.

There is a ramble every Sunday, usually starting from East Croydon station, getting to the start of the walk either by car or public transport. These range from 8 – 11 miles and cover a variety of locations in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Midweek walks are twice monthly, usually using public transport and often have a ‘drop off point’ [DOP] close to public transport where you can leave the walk if you wish.

Interest visits and ambles are also organised twice a month. These are very varied, including visiting stately homes, parks, churches, exhibitions plus many other different places. The ambles vary in length and include points of interest.  DOP are always provided, as are refreshment stops.

Once a year, a weekend away is organised sightseeing being the main focus and walking for those who prefer to be more active. On the social side a Christmas party and walkers New Year Lunch are organised every year.

Those with disabilities are welcome on our events, but some activities may not be suitable. Our leaders will be able to discuss this with you so please telephone in advance.

Everyone who participates in our events is responsible for their own safety and personal belongings and joins entirely at their own risk.
